4 cups Flour (all purpose) buy fresh | |
½ teaspoon Baking Powder | |
¼ teaspoon Baking Soda | |
1 + 1/3 cups Sugar (brown is best); you could use granulated. (Please note: I used one cup sugar, it works for me, if baking sweet potato pudding to sell use 1/2 cup more.) | |
½ cup Butter | |
1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract | |
½ teaspoon Nutmeg (grounded) | |
½ teaspoon Cinnamon Powder - optional | |
½ cup Water 1 | |
teaspoon Salt | |
2 tablespoons Ginger Juice only |

Directions

Preparation:
First, Mix the sugar with the water.
Second, add the salt, ginger juice, vanilla, and melted butter.
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a large bowl.
Third, knead the dry mixture with the liquid.
Use a baking board and a rolling pin to roll flat the dough. It will be heavy. Flour it avoid sticking.
Roll to about 1/2 thickest. Then cut into 5 inches squares.
Mark as complete

Bake it:
Now, place the square bulla dough on baking tray.
First, grease with butter, or lay grease paper.
Bake for 25 minutes at 375 F.
Allow to cool before serving.
Jamaican Bulla food is nice with cheese, or just butter.
Enjoy eating this Jamaican Pastry.
