1 lb Sorrel Fruit buy fresh | |
½ tablespoon Pimento Berries - dried | |
1.5 ounces Ginger Roots (blended with one cup of water and strain) | |
2 small Green Lime - fresh is best | |
3 ¼ cup Sugar | |
3 liters Water | |
¼ cup Rum - clear is best |
This is Optional: (use to add more flavor)
½teaspoon Whole Cloves or Anise |

Directions

Preparation:
First, ensure the sorrel is blood red. You can store it in the refrigerator up to 3 days. If you are not juicing the same day you bought it.
Next step, wash the sorrel well with water. Be sure there is no worm nor dirt on the fruit.
After that put the sorrel to boil in litres of water the ingredient stated for 15 minutes.
Use a lid and cover well. Allow to devolve for 2 to 6 hours.

Mix it:
Next blend the ginger once it peeled with one cup of water. Then strain it well. You want to use the ginger juice only.
After that strain the boiled soaked sorrel. Use a wooden spoon or a regular big spoon to squeeze the sorrel juice out.
Strain it three times, you can use a clean white cloth to strain it as well.
Now you are ready to sweeten your sorrel drink.

Sweetened it:
Add the sugar, the pimento seeds, the ginger juice, the rum if you are using rum. Consider the children. Stir in.
Refrigerate until you are ready to serve. Add ice when serving.
